Effects of Glaucoma on the Eye

Risk Factors for Glaucoma

1. People with high myopia (near-sightedness)
2. Diabetics
3. Individuals with a family history of glaucoma (first-degree relatives)
4. People using steroids (eye drops, tablets, or creams)
5. Individuals aged 40 years and above

If you have any of the risk factors for glaucoma, you can take advantage of our community service for the prevention of blindness and request for a free checkup of eye pressure.

It is recommended to have at least one eye examination every 2 years after age 40 years. If you have high myopia, diabetes or have a family member with glaucoma you should have yearly eye examination because you are more likely to have glaucoma than general population.
